Oak Heights Elementary School – Edmonds School District
LPD Engineering is providing comprehensive civil engineering services for the Edmonds School District’s Oak Heights Elementary School replacement project in unincorporated Snohomish County. This transformative project replaces the original 1967 facility with a modern 84,000-square-foot campus designed to serve 620 elementary students. The scope encompasses complete site development including water and sewer utilities, stormwater management systems, site grading, paving, circulation improvements, and right-of-way enhancements. A key challenge involves designing efficient site access and utility connections while working within the constraints of the existing property. LPD’s services include detailed stormwater mitigation planning to address county requirements, coordination of multiple utility services, and designing site improvements that support the school’s innovative three-building configuration and northeast playfield. Construction began in early 2024 with completion anticipated for the 2025-2026 school year.
LPD Engineering is collaborating closely with the Integrus architectural team, district facilities personnel, and Spee West Construction to ensure seamless integration of civil infrastructure with the architectural vision. Our extensive experience with K-12 facilities and deep understanding of Edmonds School District standards has proven instrumental in navigating complex regulatory requirements while creating a site design that enhances educational functionality. The project represents a significant investment from the district’s $594 million capital bond measure and will provide students with modern learning environments supported by thoughtfully designed outdoor spaces and efficient site circulation. When completed, the new Oak Heights Elementary will serve as a cornerstone educational facility for the community, designed to meet contemporary educational needs while providing sustainable infrastructure for decades to come.
